All of the TOPS awards require a minimum 2.5 gpa on 16.5 units of high school course work, constituting a core curriculum as follows:

 

UNITS COURSE

 

1    English I

1    English II

1    English III

1    English IV

1    Algebra I (or Applied Algebra IA & IB (2 units))

1    Algebra II

1    Geometry, Calculus or approved Advanced Math substitute

1    Biology I

1    Chemistry

1    Earth Science, Environmental Science, Physical Science, Biology II, Chemistry II or Physics

1    American History

1    World History, Western Civilization or World Geography

1    Civics and Free Enterprise

1    Fine Arts Survey (or substitute two units of Performance courses in Music, Dance, and/or Theater; or substitute two units of Visual Art; or substitute one unit of an elective from among the other subjects listed in this core curriculum)

2    Foreign Language (2 units in the same language)

˝    Computer Science, Computer Literacy, or Business Computer Applications; (or substitute at least one-half unit of an elective from among the other subjects listed in this core curriculum)

 

NOTE: EFFECTIVE FOR GRADUATES OF 2008, STUDENTS MUST EARN A MINIMUM 2.5 G.P.A. ON THE ABOVE CORE COURSES plus an additional 1 unit of Advanced Math or Advanced Science for a total of 17.5 core units.

REGENTS' SCHOLAR CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION

Curriculum is the same as “TOPS” and a min. 3.5 Cumulative G.P.A. [on an unweighted 4.0 scale] required after Seven Semesters. (Effective with the graduating class of 2001)
