ENGLISH I - HONORS (TR)
Grade - 9
EXTRA QUALITY POINTS WILL BE GIVEN
This course is designed to go beyond the fundamentals of grammar and composition. Study of speech and sentence parts will lead logically into developmental paragraph and essay work. Selections from world literature will be used to introduce students to basic concepts of analysis. Outstanding writing skills, an excellent reading repertoire, superior study habits, and exemplary behavior are necessary for success in this course. A summer reading assignment is required. TEACHER RECOMMENDATION IS REQUIRED! SIGNATURES OF BOTH HONORS TEACHER AND PARENT ARE REQUIRED!
ENGLISH I
Grade - 9
Content in this course is similar to that of English I--Honors, except that instruction and reading material will be geared to the student of average ability. Writing and communication skills will be emphasized as well as reading and literary interpretation.
ENGLISH II - HONORS (TR)
Grade - 10

In addition to the required summer reading assignment and the 3.0 average in previous English classes, the student must have the approval and signature of the Honors class teacher at Woodlawn or a parent. Outstanding writing skills, an excellent reading repertoire, superior study habits, and exemplary behavior are necessary for success in this course. Any student registering during the summer months must fulfill the summer reading assignment and get approval from the Honor's teacher or parent. PREREQUISITES: Signatures of Honors teacher and parent. Minimum of 3.0 in previous English courses.

THE BIBLE AS HISTORY AND LITERATURE

This course is designed to help students gain an understanding of the history within the Bible and the impact of that history upon our country and the world in the areas of religion, art, literature, and music.
