Welcome to my page. The content for this school year will include the study of poetry, drama, and various genres of literature.  Students will be required to read and study a teacher-selected novel this year. Students will be encouraged to participate on class field trips within and outside of the United States, participate in group activities, write and present a book report on a novel of their choosing, and write an analytical paper on a selected topic.

Although these activities are paced, each activity must be completed within a specified time frame.  Therefore, it is in the student's best interest to come to class timely, pay attention, complete all assignments when given and to ask questions when necessary.

All information can be found on my Blackboard site in the Resource Center of this webpage. This site contains the course syllabus, class assignments, notes, and announcements. All student grades are posted on the Parent Access Center.

I am currently teaching English II traditional, honors, English II Gifted and English II Great Scholars students. I have a BA in English Literature from Louisiana State University, a M.Ed from Southern University in Baton Rouge and an Ed.S. degree from Louisiana State University. I am currently certified as a gifted education and an English Second Language (ESL) instructor. In the Spring of 2012, I will begin my doctoral studies with a concentration in Gifted and Talented Education and English literature. I have experience in teaching iLEAP, ACT, SAT, and GEE Prep Courses. I am a former Pantherette sponsor of four and a half years and current step team sponsor of five years. I believe that extra-curricular activities can encourage self-discipline, independence, team work, and pride.

Future Leaders of America (Phi Lambda Alpha Step Team)

This organization was established in the Fall of 2004 by a student D. Bajoie and myself to encourage diversity among students and to encourage those with low grades and discipline problems to reach for higher goals. PLA is a diverse team that incorporates, dance, step, and drama in their shows. PLA has donated books to at-risk children and public school libraries; they have performed in numerous activities including winning 3rd place in the Northside High Step Competition and winning a grant from the Baton Rouge AIDS Society. They have been propositioned by other organizations advocating for good health and healthy eating habits.

We are proud of PLA and hope that this organization will continue to grow.
